I’m taking the next week off to celebrate the Fourth, go to my son’s college orientation, and spend a few days in Chicago. The Chicago visit is long overdue and somewhat of a family joke. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to many countries and all over the United States – except Chicago. My friends and family know how much I love the midwest and am loyal to Ohio, but for lots of reasons, I’ve never made it to the Windy City – until next week. I will be visiting a few bookstores and checking out the Chicago bestseller lists so I’ll tell you about it soon, but for now, I’m leaving you with 3 fun things….
1. If you’re going to be in New York City this summer, be sure to check out the exhibit at the New York Public Library – The ABC of It: Why Children’s Books Matter. So many awesome things to see, including the original Winnie-the-Pooh! Here’s a link to the New York Times review of the exhibit:
2. This list of “10 Children’s Books That Never Get Old” by Curtis Sittenfeld appeared in Publishers Weekly. Her selections are not books that immediately come to mind, but I love each of her choices – especially Stand Straight, Ella Kate by Kate Klise. Such a fun – and true – story!

3. And finally, check out this wallpaper. So great….I’m thinking of papering the whole house with this!
Have a Happy Fourth! Eat lots of ice cream!!
