Inspired by “The Dot”

I posted earlier today, but I just saw this display in our school corridor and have to share it. Inly’s art teacher, whom you may recall from a few posts ago, used Peter Reynolds book, Ish, with one of her elementary art classes, is now using Reynolds’ book, The Dot. The Dot is in our school’s “pantheon” of picture books to inspire artistic expression – along with Antoinette Portis’ Not a Box and Not a Stick.  

“Just make a mark and see where it takes you,” the teacher tells the young girl in The Dot who has lost her confidence. What wonderful advice – both literally and metaphorically!  Here are some of the dots made by our young artists:
