For those of you who are regular readers of this blog, you know that two of my very favorite books in the whole world are Charlotte’s Web and The Giver. The last 48 hours have given me reason to think of both of them.
On Sunday, the front page of the New York Times Book Review was a glowing review of Lois Lowry’s new book, Son. Son is the fourth volume of the Giver quartet – following The Giver, Gathering Blue and Messenger. Here’s the link to the article:
And then today on NPR’s Morning Edition, there was a lovely segment celebrating the 60th anniversary of the publication of Charlotte’s Web. The link to the piece is here:
I haven’t read Son yet. I ordered a copy, but since it was included in an order with something not being released until this week, I don’t have it yet. After reading the NYT review, I am thinking I may have to take a mental health day and read the whole book in a day.
