My husband was in London last week and reports that London is in the grips of jublilee mania! While there, he texted this picture to me – a picture of two corgis (the Queen’s?) checking their laptop for travel updates. Pretty funny, isn’t it? To celebrate 60 years of the Queen’s reign, the United Kingdom is in the midst of a year-long series of events, but the most extravagant public events take place over an extended weekend – June 2-5. If you are going to be in London next Sunday, you could join millions of people on the banks of the River Thames as the Queen and Prince Philip lead 1,000 boats sailing through the center of the city.
If you are unable to attend the festivities, you could toast the Queen with a cup of tea and a copy of English author Dick King-Smith’s short chapter book, Titus Rules! Told from the point of view of one of the Queen’s corgis, Titus Rules! is a funny story about who is really in charge at Buckingham Palace!
