When we were in Nashville about a year ago, we discovered Davis-Kidd, a wonderful bookstore with one of the best children’s book sections I’ve ever seen. In fact, I wrote about how much my family enjoyed our time there and encouraged everyone I knew to visit if their travels took them to Nashville.
I was incredibly sad to read in this morning’s New York Times that Davis-Kidd is closing – a victim of the 21st century. But wait. There’s good news. Ann Patchett, author of Bel Canto and so many other wonderful novels, has come to the rescue and opened Parnassus, a new independent bookstore in Nashville. Judging from the New York Times article, there is lots of enthusiasm and support for the new venture. Fingers crossed!
