I’ve been reading the reports about England’s new Prime Minister this week and trying to understand how a coalition government works. It’s all rather confusing, kind of like cricket. However, seeing the pictures of David Cameron in front of 10 Downing Street, gave me an idea for this week’s Three for Thursday list – picture books about London. Each of these books would be a perfect introduction to our friends across the pond.
Dodsworth in London by Tim Egan (Dodworth, the mouse, travels to London in this early reader chapter book)
Katie in London by James Mayhew (During her visit to London, Katie has the ultimate tour guide: one of the stone lions from Trafalgar Square)
This is London by Miroslav Sasek (Originally published in the 1950s, Sasek’s vibrantly illustrated picture books about major cities have been reissued)
