Hoppin’ Down the Bunny Trail…

It’s Easter morning, and a children’s literature blogger’s mind naturally turn to bunnies.  This morning I set myself the daunting task of selecting the five most charming books about bunnies.  No easy task, that.  Bunny books are all about being sweet and charming; that’s what they do.  So, after a visit to Starbucks to fuel my thinking, this is my very personal list of the most delightful bunny stories:

The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter (Listed first out of respect for its position as the standard against which all rabbit and bunny books are judged)

Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes by Dubose Heyward (the 1939 classic)

Bunny Days by Tao Nyeu (A new book by the illustrator of the whimsical wordless picture book, Wonder Bear)

Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells (This was a hard decision.  All of the Max and Ruby books are wonderful, but this one is my favorite.)

Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale by Mo Willems (A 2005 Caldcott Honor book)
