Good Books for a Rainy Day

It is pouring outside.  Tomorrow sounds like it will be the same, and spring is just around the corner.  This is the perfect day to tell you about good rainy day picture books.  It’s funny.  Rain itself is often cold and uncomfortable.  Books about rain are the opposite. The best ones make the reader feel cozy and warm.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Come on Over, Rain by Karen Hesse

Rain by Robert Kalen (illustrated by Donald Crews)

The Rain Came Down by David Shannon

Rain by Manya Stojic

Rain by Peter Spier

Peter Spier’s book seems to be out of print, but it’s worth seeking out at your library.  Without one word, it creates anticipation, delight, and warmth.
